The black-finished Profile Canto V from 1974 joins Profile Canto D, a tall stainless steel work created in 1976, on a long field with a distant view of the St. Louis skyline and Gateway Arch. Profile
Canto III, another black-finished corten-steel piece from 1973, is within sight a few steps away.
Previously installed with three other Trova sculptures at the western
edge of St. Louis University's sprawling main campus, the Profile Cantos
provide visual contrast to the adjacent university buildings and other
nearby artworks.
Cantos V and III are on indefinite loan from St. Louis County's Laumeier
Sculpture Park (see Ernest Trova at Laumeier Park for more Trova sculptures). Profile Canto D came from the city of St. Louis.
