Bill Barilko's Fifty Mission Cap

FIFTY MISSION CAP

As with many Hip songs, there's usually a story behind it.

Please indulge me while I relate mine...

As most Hip fans know, Gordie's inspiration for the song came from a brief story he read off the back of a hockey card. As a long time hockey fan, card collector, and Hip fan, I was always curious as to what card actually had this bit of inspirational info on it. After several months of searching for an answer, someone finally pointed me in the right direction and lo and behold, I saw this picture on the net:

And so it was, I finally found out that the card was:

PRO SET HOCKEY 91/92 SERIES ONE CARD #340

Knowing that this card would be a pretty unique collectible for Hip fans, I then embarked on a fairly (and ongoing) extensive search for as many as I could find. I put my money and extra hockey cards to good use, wheeling and dealing with fellow hockey card collectors from all over North America, and found several folks eager to trade away what they perceived to be a simple, common, and cheap card away for today's more popular players.

It’s been nearly two years now since I first undertook this project and in no uncertain terms it has been a great success. As of right now...

So, I suppose you're probably wondering now about price details and all that. Well, it's fairly easy and simple. Each card is

$3.00

This price *includes* a plastic card protector and postage to anywhere in North America. Overseas deliveries, please add $1.00.

This price is in US funds. I ask my Canadian & overseas friends to please either pay with American cash or a money order in US funds...no personal checks! My bank charges me an outrageous fee to cash foreign personal checks.

As you can easily tell, I'm not really into making a whole lot of money with this deal. I'm simply wanting to recoup the money and value of the cards I traded away to other collectors. Plus, it'll be cool knowing that I helped other Hip fans get a hold of a really cool band-related collectible!
